BSP Series

1995 - 2017

The BSP series was released in 1995, two years after the Bangko Sentral was established as a legal institution, succeeding the original Central Bank of the Philippines. It was the first series fully commissioned and managed by the newly established BSP, from its first year of mintage through its last, as the country's central monetary authority. Furthermore, the series also produced the 10-peso coin for the first time in 2000, which was released on July 10, 2001, to mark the BSP's 8th anniversary. In 2003, the BSP took steps to reduce production costs by changing the composition of the 1-peso and 25-centavo coins. The series was also the last to feature the 10-centavo coin, which was phased out in the subsequent series. Though still legal tender, some denominations of the BSP series may be hard to find due to their low face value.
