Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Pilipino Series. The coin features Jose Rizal who is widely considered to be the national hero of the country. It was the first piso coin minted for mainstream circulation since 1912 under American occupation, thus having a 60-year gap. Though production occurred only in 1972 and 1974, the coin is common due to its high mintage. It was later demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
