The obverse features Juan Luna, known for his painting “Spoliarium” and his activism. The reverse features the Philippine butterfly, which is endemic in the country. The coin is common due to its high mintage and was demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
