Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Improved Flora and Fauna Series, where the shape was changed to round, its size reduced, and its composition changed to stainless steel. It was the last time the Bangko Sentral minted 2 Piso coins. The obverse features Andres Bonifacio, who founded the Katipunan to achieve independence from Spain. The reverse features a coconut tree, with coconuts playing a vital role in the country’s agricultural exports. The coin was demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
