Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Improved Flora and Fauna Series, in which its size was reduced, and its composition was changed to stainless steel. The obverse features Jose Rizal, widely considered the country's national hero. The reverse features the tamaraw, which is endemic only in Mindoro. The coin is common due to its high mintage. It was demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
