Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Flora and Fauna Series. The obverse features Melchora Aquino, known as “Mother of the Philippine Revolution,” as she provided support to Katipunan fighters. The reverse features the waling-waling orchid, often referred to as the “Queen of Philippine Flowers”. The coin is common due to its high mintage. Its size and shape remained unchanged throughout the Improved Flora and Fauna series until it was later demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
