Flora and Fauna Series
Obverse: Features Andres Bonifacio facing left with the BSP mintmark on the bottom right. Text: "REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS" and “ANDRES BONIFACIO” with the date “1983”.

Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Flora and Fauna Series. It was the first time the Bangko Sentral minted 2 Piso coins, with that denomination previously exclusive to banknotes. The obverse features Andres Bonifacio, who founded the Katipunan to achieve independence from Spain. The reverse features a coconut tree, with coconuts playing a vital role in the country’s agricultural exports. Furthermore, the coin is the only standard-issue decagonal coin in the country. The coin is common due to its high mintage. It later changed its physical shape and size in 1991 as part of the Improved Flora and Fauna series and was demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
