Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Ang Bagong Lipunan Series. It was notable for being the first standard-issue coin featuring a sitting president during its mintage. The coin features Ferdinand Marcos Sr, the 10th president of the Philippines, and includes the date on which Martial Law was declared. The reverse design was modified in 1979 to reflect the new motto, “Isang Bansa, Isang Diwa”. The coin is common due to its high mintage. It was later demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
