Description
The coin was a standard circulating coin under the Ang Bagong Lipunan Series. It features Jose Rizal, widely considered the country's national hero. The reverse design was modified in 1979 to reflect the new motto, “Isang Bansa, Isang Diwa”. The coin is common due to its high mintage. It was later demonetized on January 2, 1998, as per BSP Circular No. 81, Series of 1995.
